A Republic, Madam...

When Benjamin Franklin was coming out of the Constitutional Convention, a lady asked him, “Well, Doctor, what have you given us?” to which he replied, “A Republic, madam, if you can keep it.” What did he mean by that? The Founders knew that a Republic can only be sustained when the people are well-informed of the source of their rights and the limits and structure of government authority so as to be able to defend themselves against tyranny.

The hope and purpose of these videos is to provide tools for this purpose - to inform us how to best defend and promote our freedom, understanding our rights and legal authority.

One of these tools is called the doctrine of “the Lesser Magistrate.” This “Lesser Magistrate” principle is the idea that any locally elected official can interpose themselves between the people in their communities and a “higher level” government official who is using their position unconstitutionally (without authority) to threaten the local citizen’s God-given rights.

The following video is an interview with two County sheriffs and how they used the this “Lesser Magistrate” principle to protect the rights of the local citizens in their county from the Federal government when it oversteps its limited authority.

What makes you an American?

When we as Americans forget what made us a nation worth living in, we lose the blessings of liberty we have taken for granted.

Finally, I leave you with a quote from Thomas Jefferson. “the liberties of a nation [cannot] be thought secure when we have removed their only firm basis, a conviction in the minds of the people that their liberties are the gift of God.” Think for a moment and ask yourself this question. Is that a true statement? If it is, how are we doing and what are we going to do about it?
